VERA J. RUSSELL

Vera J. Russell, 81, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday June 28, 2024, at Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday July 5, 2024, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.

Vera was born December 10, 1942, in Jasper, Missouri to Lewis and Goldie (Phipps) Edwards. She was employed at local factories as a laborer.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil F. Russell; one daughter, Christina Gordon and ten siblings. Those left to cherish her memory include three children, Rusty (Julie) Russell, Independence, Melissa (Robert) McDaniel, Independence and Cheryl (Don) Britain, Hutchinson; one brother, Melvin Edwards, Quapaw, OK; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
