Teresa was born May 7, 1952 in Oswego, Kansas to Ed and Melvena (Hummer) Bly.

She attended and graduated from Neodesha High School in the class of 1970. After high school, Teresa attended cosmetology school and began a career in Cosmetology. She met, dated and married Michael Bell on November 17, 1972. The couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Michael worked for a concrete products company, later moving back to Independence in the mid 1970s. Teresa then renewed her working career, working for Value Dress Shop and Gansel’s Jewelry Store, both in Independence. She was a Christ follower and for many years attended First Baptist Church where she was baptized. After 10 years of marriage, Mike and Teresa were blessed with the birth of their only child, a daughter named Brittany Dyan. Teresa then returned to a long and happy career working again as a cosmetologist, working at four different beauty salons until she finally retired from the practice. She loved fixing hair and, considering her outgoing personality, especially enjoyed visiting with her clientele. Teresa enjoyed traveling, reading and watching her favorite pastors on television. Teresa will no doubt be remembered for her hugs and her genuine caring concern and compassion.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Melvena; a step-father Ernie Hazen; one brother Marcel Bly and his wife Cheryl Bly. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 51 years, Mike of the home; one daughter, Brittany (Austin) Barrett and daughter J’Nay, Wichita; two sisters, Lecieta (Theron) Taylor, Catoosa, OK and Sue (Butch) Youngberg, Houston, TX; 6 nieces and nephews, 9 great great-nieces and nephews and many family friends.
