Robert D. Daniels Sr. 90, Elk City, Kansas passed away June 25, 2024 at home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2024 at The First Christian Church in Elk City, Kansas. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City. The family will greet visitors on Friday from 9:00 a.m., until service time at the church.

Bob Daniels was born May 22, 1934 in McLouth, Kansas to Roscoe and Della (Fidler) Daniels. Following his mother’s death, Bob moved to Humboldt to live with his sister. He attended and graduated from elementary school from Allen County Public Schools. He returned to McLouth to live with his father and graduated from McLouth. Bob was employed by Cities Service Gas Company for a short time before enlisting in the United States Army. He served in Germany and France as a heavy equipment operator. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob was again employed by Cities Service Company. His job brought him to Elk City, where he met Karen Simmons. The couple married on January 26, 1958 in Elk City. Following the marriage, they moved to many different places with Bob’s job as a heavy equipment operator. Bob worked on notable projects including Dulles International Airport, Tuttle Creek Dam, Milford Dam, Perry Dam and the levee around Elk City. The couple settled in Tonganoxie in 1966 where Bob was employed by List & Clark Construction and later Holliday Sand and Gravel and retired after 30 years. Following his retirement in 1997, Bob had several part time jobs. He always enjoyed working with people. His favorite retirement job was working at Ft. Leavenworth as maintenance and grounds keeper. Karen and Bob moved to Elk City in 2007 to be near Bob, Pam and Roger.

While in Tonganoxie, Bob served as a Webelos Boy Scout leader and was a member of Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees Club. Bob enjoyed traveling and made many vacation trips. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and working in his garden. Bob was a lifetime member of V.F.W Post 1186 and served as Post Commander of Post #7254. He was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers Union # 101. He was a long-time member of Tyro Christian Church and a recent member of Elk City Christian Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Danny Willis Daniels and Roger Blaine Daniels; one grandson Nicholas Daniels; two brothers Victor Daniels and Warren Daniels and one sister Vera Karr. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Karen of the home; one son Robert and beloved daughter- in-law Pam; one grandson Roger Willis and one great-grandson Shea.
