This just in...

Brian Barnett of Sporting Life Taxidermy in Edna, KS is donating a turkey tail fan and beard mount to the lucky vet who wins!

There are few things an outdoor enthusiast values and appreciates more than being in the woods, on the water or in the field. The service and sacrifice of our military veterans is absolutely one of those few. We honor each and every veteran who took the great oath to protect our freedoms and defend our constitution.  Giving back to these men and women seems almost impossible because whatever we could give them would seem inadequate…but Matt Wonser and Devin Windsor of 180 Outdoors in partnership with The Reporter Outdoors aim to give it a shot.

“There is no way to repay the veterans of our country for the time that they have sacrificed, but we want them to know that they are appreciated. 180 Outdoors wants to thank them for all that they have done with a small token of our gratitude.” says Matt Wonser, co-owner of 180 Outdoors. So we are excited to bring you…”Salute To Service”, an opportunity for a local veteran to win an all-inclusive, 2 day turkey hunt with 180 Outdoors!

Here’s how it works. Simply nominate a veteran by sending us a photo and a paragraph or two high- lighting their service and love for the outdoors. We’re not necessarily looking for stories of valor or number of medals. Every honorable veteran is a hero and worthy of this hunt. The Reporter Outdoors will salute these veterans by featuring their photo and your paragraph(s) in the pages of this newspaper. 180 Outdoors will salute one lucky veteran by randomly drawing the winner from all those nominated and guide him/her on a two day turkey hunt they’ll never forget on the weekend of April 30th/May 1st, all expenses paid. The hunt will be chronicled in The Reporter Outdoors.

So get busy nominating your veteran and help 180 Outdoors and The Reporter Outdoors give our veterans a “Salute To Service”. We’ll announce the winner in the March 6th edition of The Reporter Outdoors. As a lead up to the announcement of the winner, we’ll be saluting all those nominated by featuring your submission in The Reporter Outdoors.
