CANEY — Caney Police Sergeant Natalie Rees has been promoted to the rank of assistant police chief, according to Caney Police Chief Kevin Kitterman. Recent changes in the department opened the opportunity for her promotion to second in command.  

With the promotion, Rees will be more involved with the day-to-day operations of the Caney Police Department. 

Rees is married to Daron Rees and they have two children. She served in the United States Army and did two tours in Iraq, one in 2006 until 2007 and the other in 2009 until 2010.

Rees began her career in law enforcement with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department in 2011. She graduated the Kansas Law Enforcement Academy in 2012 and served with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department until 2014.

Rees joined the Caney Police Department in 2016 and was promoted to rank of sergeant in 2018. 

Rees and her family love the Caney community and are active in church and sporting events, as well as her service at the Police Department.
