A portion of Penn Ave. will be closed for the next five days, during which a new paint job will be applied to the trestle. North Penn Avenue, U.S. Highway 75, will be closed from Sycamore to Pecan from Saturday, June 8 until Wednesday, June 12. R-Turn will be handling the new paint and signage.

The north side of the trestle will feature a portrait of William Inge, the Elk City Lake, the Neewollah logo inside the Ottaway Ferris Wheel, Little House on the Prairie and a glimpse of downtown Independence. The south side of the trestle is devoted to Riverside Park and Ralph Mitchell Zoo, featuring the train ride, the carousel, Logan Fountain, and some of the zoo's largest players.

The City thanks citizens for their patience and is looking forward to the finished project.
