The warm temperatures did nothing to keep the teens away from downtown Independence Saturday night for the Independence Chamber of Commerce's Teen Movie Night, featuring lots of pre-show activities followed by a viewing of "Captain Marvel."

Pre-show activities began about 7 p.m. and activities were all geared especially for teens. Firehose Bowling, Inflatable Football Pass, Inflatable Basketball Toss and Giant Jenga were just a few of the activities featured. Textron Aviation displayed their static display plane and teens competed in cup stacking.

Free pizza was available while it lasted as well as free movie popcorn, courtesy of Independence Cinemas. Bottled water and popsicles were also handed out free of charge.

Chamber president, Lisa Wilson, said downtown movie nights are the Chamber's way of thanking the community for their support and they have sponsors to make sure nobody has to pay for anything during the monthly event.

July 27 movie night will feature "Incredibles 2" with pre-show activities beginning at 8 p.m. followed by the movie at 9 p.m. "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" will be the featured movie Aug. 24 with pre-show activities at 7:30 p.m. followed by the movie at 8:30 p.m. The last movie night of the season will be Sept. 28 and will feature "Wonder Park" with activities beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the movie at 7:30 p.m.
