The Independence Fire/EMS Department, alongside KVC Fostercare, is working to help out Montgomery County children by inviting the public to Stuff the Ambulance. Fire/EMS Chief Shawn Wallis said the ambulance will be at the Independence Walmart Sunday, Dec. 9 from noon to 5 p.m. to collect donations. "Although, donations are accepted anytime at the Independence Fire Department at 811 W. Laurel in Independence," he said.

Items the department is collecting include: toys of all kinds, board games, stuffed animals, sports balls and equipment, lotion, shampoo, body wash sets, creativity kits, gift sets, infant toys, baby dolls, action figures and gift cards. Wallis said they will not be accepting cash donations and ages included in the collection are newborn to 18. Any new unwrapped donations are appreciated and will be enjoyed and loved by children who may not otherwise have a gift to open Christmas morning.
