Calling all rummage sale enthusiasts — it’s almost time for the well loved KAN-OKLA 100 Mile Highway Sale which travels through 12 cities in Northeast Oklahoma and Southeast Kansas, including Independence, Coffeyville, Dearing, Tyro and Caney. The annual sale is on its 11th year and will be held Sept. 14 through 16. City-wide yard sales and flea markets will be held in several of the towns involved with the sale and along the high- way the sale will be assisted by two group-sale Facebook sites who will offer off-road parking, restrooms, concessions and food trucks along the sale route. More than 65 vendors who have signed up for the sale’s large group sites will be selling antiques, modern and antique furniture, jewelry, children and adult clothing, area carpets, primitives, tools, baby items, vintage car parts, repurposed items, old rusty junk, western and American Indian decor, baby furniture, vintage signs, glassware, saddles, hats, cowboy boots, house goods and many other unique items. According to the sale’s Facebook page, “Whether you are a resident of towns located along the sale route, or you live out-of state, you may set up at one of our large group sites which are on the main highways of participating towns.” The site claims these are their one-stop shops where shoppers can stop and shop at the booths, eat lunch from a food truck, use the restrooms and pick up ice-cold drinks. Sale organizers offer special advertising packages which include the business name on two banners and the business listed on their website for one year. Availability is limited, call Sandra at 918-214-2443 for more information or to take advantage of the package. Some helpful tips include: drive carefully, watch out for pedestrians and be respectful of the locals; visit the large group sites; don’t be in a hurry because you may miss out on the fun; and don’t worry about rain as it rains somewhere along the route every year. Sponsors of the sale include, Kay’s Antiques, Linger Longer Antiques, Mimi’s Vintage Loft, Fleas AnTiques, North Star Metal Works, Caney Valley Antique Power Association, Country Time Antiques and Flea Market, Sabores Mexican Cuisine, The Brick Teepee, Gypsy Soul, Popkess Pharmacy, Heritage Theatre Cafe and Pub, Rustic Touch, Once Again Boutique, Pump-N-Petes, Western Heritage, Pawhuska Merchant Group, Jerrico Tile & Carpet, Caney Family Dental, Peter’s True Value, Sisters Attic, Lenape Trading Post, Out of the Attic, Cross Roads Trading Co. and Wishing Well.
