Eisenhower Elementary

Myrachle Schenk is the six-year old daughter of Amanda Byrd. Myrachle is currently a 1st grade student at Eisenhower Elementary School. The nomination form submitted for Myrachle said, “Myrachle is such a sweet girl. She works so hard, is focused and kind to all! She has already improved on her words because of her hard work! Perfect role model! Love her!”

Jefferson Elementary School

Tionne Johnson is the nine-year-old daughter of LaShon Lawrie. Tionne is currently a 4th grade student at Jefferson Elementary School. The nomination form submitted for Tionne stated, “Tionne is a hard worker who always tries her best on her assignments. She is the first to step up and help peers who are struggling with their work or volunteer to partner with someone who needs a friend. Tionne positively participates in the classroom and is a student who strives to make good choices. It is a pleasure to have Tionne as one of my students this year.”

Independence Middle School

Christian Gray is the eleven-year old son of Chaille and Robert Gray. Christian is currently a 6th grade student at Independence Middle School. The nomination form submitted for Christian added, “Christian works hard to do his best in everything he does. He shows respect for self and others. He is kind and helpful. He is an excellent role model for all.”

Independence High School

Xena Baker is the 15-year old daughter of Shelly and Tracy Brook. Xena is currently a 10th grade student at Independence High School. The nomination form submitted for Xena read, “Xena is a hard worker who always comes to class with a smile. She works hard to breathe creativity into her work and is organized and punctual.”

Initiated during the 2007 school year, the district-wide student recognition program honors one student per building from grades Kindergarten through 12th grade each month, September through May.

Monthly recipients will receive a student savings account from Community National Bank, single admission to Independence Cinemas, a single topping medium pizza from Independence Pizza Hut, and a free combo meal from Sonic Drive In (includes entrée, side & drink). In addition, recipients are recognized in a specially- designed advertisement in the Independence Reporter and treated to lunch by their school principals.
