Jefferson School held its final school awards assembly Friday afternoon in the school gymnasium where every student in all three grades gathered to receive awards for the year. Carrie Agusto, Jefferson School, counselor emceed the event. 

The gym was packed with students and parents, grandparents and friends as student's names were called up to receive their award. The students would run up a "Red Carpet," high fiving the gauntlet of students surrounding the runway. Jefferson principal Michael Harrison stood at the end of the runway prepared to hand the certificate awards to the students and have a photo taken with them. 

The awards the students received were: The catch of the month; Jefferson Leader award; student of the month; teacher of the month; staff member of the month; the Debbie Tomey Award and the Math Facts award. 

At the end of the assembly, a special award was given to  two Jefferson staff members who are retiring at the end of the school year. Sandy Annable, Title I reading teacher and Bev Chubb, mentoring coordinator. Each was recognized for their many years of service and received a hanging plant. As the assembly was about to come to a conclusion, Agusto announced there was one more thing to give to Annable and Chubb. At that announcement, a side door opened and family members came running out to the retiring icons. Emotions flowed among the embracing family members as the the crowd came up to congratulate them and each other before dispersing at the end of the day.
