Textron Aviation officials at their corporate office released a statement regarding workforce layoffs at the facility located in Independence.

After contacting officials at the local corporation, questions were directed to Textron Aviation's director of communications, Rosa Lee Argotsinger, who confirmed there was a "workforce reduction." The announcement was made last week internally.

"In line with the actions previously announced, Textron Aviation is taking certain action to streamline our business through workforce reductions in order to improve our overall operating efficiency," said Argotsinger. "Our focus remains on bringing products and services to market that help our customers achieve success."

According to Argotsinger, the confirmed number of reductions, which was not detailed when asked, occurred in October.

This stems from questions to the local representatives at Textron; other inquiries about a layoff this month, as well as the number of people impacted by the reduction were also not answered directly by officials at Textron Aviation's corporate level.
